At St. Colum’s, we place great importance on developing the strengths of our young players, and we’re delighted with the success of our young players in 2013!
Building Skills
Children start off from the age of 5 in our ‘Cage Crew’: so-called only because they start out playing games to build their co-ordination on our hurling cage! They then progress to training with our under-8s’ teams and move on up through the age groups building their skills through regular training sessions (March-October) and regular competitive ‘blitzes’ with other local clubs around West Cork.
Having Fun
We place a huge emphasis on having fun and building confidence during your child’s time at St. Colum’s. Our ‘most improved’ player award in each age group is highly-prized, and reflects the children’s understanding that effort and progress are appreciated as much as skill.
Cúl Camps
Each year, we participate in the GAA Cúl Camp scheme and offer a week of training and fun activities for our existing young members and for any child who’d like to try Gaelic games before signing up for the full season.
While our next Cúl camp isn’t until August 2019, you can sign up for a reminder about Cúl Camp registration nearer to the time!
