Camogie has been on offer at St. Colum’s since 2009 and the club has been going from strength to strength since then. The game is proving to be a huge success with young women in all age-groups who are looking for a way to get fit, and to represent their community on the sporting field.
A Young Club
St. Colum’s Camogie Club was formed on 27th April 2009, and about sixty members registered for the club at its first public meeting a month later. The new members were joined that night by Cork senior players Rena Buckley and Catríona Foley who demonstrated some skills for the girls and brought the O’ Duffy Cup along so our young players could set their sights on future glory!
Our camogie trainers have all completed GAA coaching courses and continue to update their skills regularly.
Teams Across the Age Groups
We now field teams across a range of age groups, and St. Colums’ Camogie Club has played host to teams from as far afield as Cobh and Bishopstown as we build strong connections across the county’s camogie community.
Camogie gives girls an opportunity to join in fully with the life of their local GAA club, and we look forward to supporting the growth of camogie at St. Colum’s in the years ahead.
